Meditation has been in the news a lot lately and I, for one, am glad that people are finally realizing the amazing benefits this simple practice can bring into our lives.

There are many different ways to meditate, but I will address that topic in a separate post soon.  Right now, I want to direct you to a great article where authors Ed and Deb Shapiro tell you about eight ways they believe meditation can change your life.

Cultivating Gratitude through Service

If you have read anything about the Law Of Attraction, you will most likely have read about how gratitude can activate this Universal truth.

While the concept of gratitude is simple, be grateful for all you have, stirring these feelings can be a bit more difficult.

It is pretty easy to intellectually know that  do have a lot to be grateful for — friends, family, heath, a home, food, etc — but it is sometimes difficult to emotionally feel grateful.

Today I want share with you a way to kick start those feelings of gratitude!

I’m talking about service. Now “service” can mean a lot of things, but at its foundation is doing for others for the plain reason of helping them.  Not because you want something in return, but just because.

When you do this you will find that it makes you feel good (another Law Of Attraction activation force) and it also makes feeling grateful flow through you with ease.

I think this is because by helping others you find a deep inner worth and this makes you at first feel grateful for being you and then allows you to “see” all the other things that you have to be grateful for.

But how do you serve?

There are many ways to serve.  It can be as simple as holding the door for someone or stopping and helping someone with a flat tire.

There are many other places to serve.  Here are few ways to find some opportunities:

  1. Look on VolunteerMatch.org and enter your zipcode.
  2. Call your local Human Society
  3. Contact a local Church.  They have many opportunities within the church and are also connected to many local charities that can always use a helping and loving hand.

Now, you don’t have to spend 40 hours a week serving others.  If you even take one weekend or night a month to start you will find that the time you spend helping will be repaid a hundred times in many different forms.

One last suggestion.  When you serve, do it not for yourself, but because of your love for others.

The Power by Rhonda Byrne

I’m sure that most of you reading this have seen The Secret.  If not, you don’t need to see it to get a lot from this book.

I liked the book for a couple of reasons, one of which was NOT because it gave me a secret power to change everything in my life, but instead gave me a some new ways to look at things in my life and our world.

The insights from the book are nothing new, but they are well stated and are presented in a way that I find very inspiring!  And don’t we all need a little inspiration once in a while.

I didn’t read the book, but instead listened to it.  I find that books that are meant to inspire and insight action from the reader are best to be listened to.  Maybe it’s just me, but went to Audible to download the book and saw it was read by the author, I knew it was going to be good.

Rhonda has many stories that highlight how a person can really change their life by shifting their perception of life and the universe.

One little perception shift that I thought was clever dealt with having abundance in your life.  Rhonda said to always align the bills in your wallet with the face up.

The perception shift being that you view the face of the bills as you have abundance.  Whenever you take your money out you are always consciously arranging your bills with the face up thus enforcing your perception of having abundance.

I know it is simple, but when you realize that so much we do is unconscious, this simple act brings our conscious mind into play; it causes us to take action and we all know that action is what really brings about changes!

The biggest benefit of this book is inspiration.  In fact, my suggestion to you would be to join Audible and get a monthly dose of inspiration.  You will be amazed at the selection of forward thinking audio books that you will find at Audible.
